Boogie Nights

Boogie Nights is simultaneously hilarious and tragic, oozing with 70s character and vulgar pornographic humor. Although it is over two and a half hours long, there is not a single moment of the film that I thought was boring or drawn out. Every scene is purposeful, and every character is well fleshed out. Paul Thomas Anderson impresses, as always, with his strong directorial presence. His long takes and other stylistic choices make Boogie Nights enjoyable to watch from start to finish. Its pacing, humor, and strong characters make it my second favorite Anderson film behind There Will Be Blood.
